FAQ

Your questions about our family fishing trip

Is inshore fishing in Martinique good for kids?
Yes, it's the ideal family activity, open to kids ages 5 and up. Close to shore the sea is calm and the bites come often, which makes it perfect for children and beginners. Captain Thierry shows everyone the right moves.
What fish can we catch on an inshore trip?
Jacks, wahoo, little tunny (false albacore) and barracuda, often caught by trolling close to shore, plus “red fish” such as snapper, porgy and mutton snapper, depending on the season and the time of day. The afternoon trip often runs past dusk to target certain species.
How much does inshore fishing in Martinique cost?
The 5-hour trip costs €120 per adult angler, €100 per child angler (up to age 12) and €80 per non-fishing guest. Fishing gear, drinks and a snack are included.
Do I need to know how to swim?
No. You fish from the boat, there are life jackets on board and no special skills are needed. The captain keeps an eye on everyone's safety from start to finish.
Can we keep the fish we catch?
Yes, you head home with your share of the catch. We follow minimum size limits and release undersized fish to help protect local fish stocks.
I get seasick. Is this trip right for me?
It's our most comfortable trip: we stay close to shore, on the calm, sheltered Caribbean side of the island. For all of the captain's tips, read our guide on how to avoid seasickness on a boat.
Where does the inshore fishing trip leave from?
From Case-Pilote harbor, on Martinique's Caribbean coast, about 15 minutes from Fort-de-France. From there we follow the shoreline north to Saint-Pierre, facing Mount Pelée. All our fishing trips in Martinique leave from the same harbor.
